My colleague and friend Cyril Wecht has passed. He was a kind, generous, and highly intelligent man. He attended both medical school and law school (doing his pathology residency while attending law school). No small feat. He later became Allegheny County Coroner & Medical Examiner and served in this post for many years.
Many years ago, I worked with him and his son Ben to create a symposium on the connection between Hollywood and forensic science at the Wecht Institute in Pittsburgh. It proved to be a fun weekend. One of the many highlights was the late, great Ann Rule, who mesmerized the attendees with a big-screen virtual presentation. Health issues prevented Anne from being with us that weekend, but she still wowed the audience.
